6 Easy Steps to change a security alarm battery

Step 1 – Turn Off Power

Turn off the electrical supply to your alarm system at the power point.

Step 2 – Notify Monitoring (If Applicable)

If your system is monitored, contact your control room before changing the battery to avoid unnecessary patrol dispatch.

Step 3 – Locate the Control Panel

The alarm control panel is typically located in a cupboard, wardrobe, garage, or utility area.

Step 4 – Open the Panel

Open the control panel using the key or by unscrewing the cover. The alarm may sound — have your user code ready to silence it.

Step 5 – Disconnect the Old Battery

Carefully remove the red and black wires from the battery terminals. Remove the old battery and dispose of it responsibly.

Step 6 – Install the New Battery

Connect the new 12V 7Ah battery by attaching the RED wire to the RED terminal and the BLACK wire to the BLACK terminal. Ensure connectors are secure. Close and lock the control panel.
